Children

Last Wednesday, Mark and I went to one of the Vancouver Parks & Recreation noon concerts. The music was good and the company was wonderful, but what really caught my attention were the disabled young adults that were there as part of a Vancouver Parks & Rec summer program. They seemed to be having a good time, eating their lunches, listening the music, talking to each other, and dancing. And though they seemed happy and well taken care of by the Parks & Rec staff, a few tears came to my eyes. I couldn't help thinking how very lucky I am to have two healthy, intelligent, and self-sufficient children. And about how brave the parents of these children must be, watching and helping their children through the challenges they face each and every day.
